"The Mazda3 5-door is a quality automobile that is stylish, performs well and is reasonably economical. The quality of ride is high for the size of the car. The drive-train and suspension are well tuned and give the driver great confidence. I really enjoy the auto-stick gate on the 5-speed automatic transmission. The 2.3L in-line 4 cylinder engine is free reving and propels the car briskly down the road. The sound system has a quality sound. The seat down storage in the 5-door is very ample. I am impressed with the fit and finish of the car. We get a lot of looks in this sub $20K auto. I could not give the car higher marks. We love it."

"it's been 3 month since i've got my mazda 3 S hatchback auto - love it! i drive mostly in the city but occasionally do the highway trips - get an average of 26-28 mpg, but yesterday i filled up and realized that i've got 31 mpg! ride is firm and very predictive; stock tires are a little noisy though; fit/finish is awesome; stereo and controls are very intuitive; trunk and cabin space is very adequate. would recommend this car to anybody."

"I love the looks of my GT 5-door hatch! Great fun to drive, handles very well. 5-spd gets 30+ mpg on highway, 26 around town. Original Goodyear RS-A's needed to be replaced at 13K miles of easy driving. It is hard to see out the rear over the headrests and I'm 6'1. A/C works great in really hot conditions. Xenon headlights work well. Weak (single) horn. Center instrument panel display impossible to see on a bright, sunny day. Red and blue nighttime gauge illumination outstanding. Exceptional braking. TPMS, DSC and TCS excellent additions on vehicle at this price level. Lot's of room in back, especially with rear seats folded forward; plenty of room for golf clubs, too. Great car for long trips."

"Bought Mazda3 I Touring, 6 Speaker, 6 CD changer, Moon Roof. Added Sirius for long commute. Absolutely awesome car. Get 25-30 MPG. Slow acceleration but I'm older and don't need to win any races. The Sirius makes the commute more tolerable and it sounds great through 6 speakers. I have noticed the wheel hop but only accelerating from a stop on a hill. Responsive steering and cornering ratio is fantastic.

Cons: A little noisy at freeway speeds, backing visibility a little restrictive; just know where you are."

"This fun car is very affordable. However, this cheap vehicle doesn't come without problems. I have a 2008 Touring i with 2.0 manual. The engine is WAY too weak to pull the heavy car from a stop, especially with the A/C on. Once the car starts to move, the engine's strength is okay. The seat material started to fray on the first day of purchase (this was a new car). Seats were replaced under warrantee but they were defective also. Still dealing with Mazda Corp. about this issue. Gas pedal space is too tight. My shoe gets caught by the brake pedal at times. A bit dangerous. My right knee also hits the center stack while I'm driving. (I'm only a 5' 8", 170 lb guy). The lock mechanism of the driver's door began to squeak anytime you locked/unlocked the doors (replaced under warantee). And the radio's antenna is WAY TOO weak. I don't receive all of my regular stations that my Honda Accord (the great car I traded for this Mazda 3) picked up. I deal with the static b/c the dealer said this is normal.
The car is good on gas, fun to drive, and sporty for an economical vehicle. Steering is tight and the car takes rough roads well. Turn radius is amazing. Overall, I like the car but regret trading in my Accord : ( Wish I had it back!!"

"Transmission failed at 70K miles (ON AN AUTOMATIC TRANS!!), tire pressure sensor became worthless at 40K miles. Fit/Finish of interior a bit lacking on and around the doors. The dash gets a bit juvenile looking after a while. Problems with the ABS. Clueless delearship! BUT... Exterior still look awesome after about ten hurricanes. Long distance driving is more comfortable than many bigger/more expensive cars. Handling is predictable and solid, as is emergency handling. Good stock stereo...basically, car has a bad Transmission and some individual models are unreliable. If you are lucky, this is an awesome car. Don't buy the blue one though...you'll hate it within six months."

"I have owned this car about one and a half years and have had no problems with the vehicle. The ride is relatively comfortable for trips less than 2 hours. More than that requires a stop and stretch. My hwy mpg usually runs 30-32. In town about 22. The car performs very well. Although its an automatic, I like the option of manually shifting or allowing the automatic trans. to shift. The only thing i do NOT like about the car is the visibility. There is quite a blind spot while driving, and it impedes any reverse movement as well. It just takes some adjusting and constant awareness. Aside from that I am 100% pleased with everything about this car. It's my third Mazda and won't be my last."

"I have th 2008.5 Mazda 3 GT sedan. I have one semester of engineering school left and I am so happy with my first vehicle (and first big purchase). This car is fully loaded and I couldn't ask for more. I got it for about $23,000 including ttl and all that good stuff. Car handles great, corners great, and has good acceleration (which you can improve with the automanual). The black leather seats are very firm yet very comfortable and the heated feature works very fast, ~30 seconds. This car has the best turning radius of any car I've ever driven...you'll never need to make more than one attempt to get in a parking spot again! The trip meter tends to underestimate the fuel mileage at about 27 mpg. I actually get about 30-33 mpg with 70% highway. All the little features you hear about are great and work well. The AC isn't the strongest, but it gets the job done and works best at highway speeds. Yes, there is no keyless trunk release but it's not that bad once you get used to it. The Bose system w/ 6 cd changer works great as does the auto-dimming mirrow w/ homelink. The 3 GT looks much more expensive than it actually is and I am so glad I picked it over the fully loaded Civic. Cost less and everything is better except you sacrifice a few mpg. My lease expires in September of 2010, so hopefully I'll be getting a redesigned 2011 3 at that time! You won't be dissapointed in the GT, I can't speak for the other models though. Get them to throw the all-season floor mats into the deal, especially if you live in a northern climate. They fit much better than any of the cheap ones you can get at other stores. I could keep talking, but just know it's a great car with amazing features for the cost."

"I bought my 2007 Mazda3 5-door new from the dealer and I have loved it ever since we drove off the lot! I have had no problems with anything. Tires seem to be a little expensive IF you don't shop around. I found a great set for a reasonable price at the 3 place I went. The Mazda3 has a very comfortable ride and the flip down back seats make a large cargo area. My Mazda hasn't once let me down and is a joy to drive! ZOOM ZOOM!"

"I own a 2008.5 sport with the 2.3 litre and the 5 sp auto transmission. the car is just fun to drive. I love all the features that came with the car, air, auto lights, auto wipers, mp3 6 speaker stereo, I POD jack, Radio controls and cruise control on the wheel. vanity mirrors both sides, map lights, heated mirrors, power windows and remote power locks. the cargo management system well thought out. The car is well put together inside and out. I have the copper red exterior color and black interior. 17 in alloy rims and 4 wheel disk brakes. We get alot of comments on the car. we have had it only a few months but I would recommend anyone to take one out for a test drive. When is the last time you got excited about driving a car?...Try a MAZDA"

"I have a 2006 Mazda3 s 2.3L sedan with manual transmission. The car was really fun to drive to begin with, but it's even better with my modifications. This car definitely has the best handling and best interior of any car in its class. The engine is responsive and revs happily all the way to the 6500rpm redline. The steering is precise, and the suspension tears up corners like a sports car. The manual transmission rocks with its close ratios and 4.105 final drive. Don't bother with the wimpy automatic if you like driving, though. Everyone who rides in it comments about the cool interior. Seriously, I have driven several other small cars, and every time I get back in my car, I love it even more. It has a few small drawbacks that shouldn't matter to someone who's into performance, i.e. it's noisy at freeway speeds and the rear seat isn't very roomy. There's significant wheel hop/spin when you try to accellerate fast, But I fixed that with an APR engine mount and W rated Kuhmo tires. And with my custom exhaust, it growls fiercely! I only wish it were more powerful, but that's what the Speed3 is for! The only reliability issues I've had were minor annoyances related to my mods. The only way you won't love this car is if you want a lot of comfort and don't like to drive. Bottom line: The most exciting car you can buy for under 20,000... and it still gets 26/31 mpg!"
