"06 EX Coupe
Pros *gas mileage: I range from low of 34 to high of 41 per tank. That is simply amazing for a non-hybrid, and that's on regular unleaded 87 octane fuel. The EPA on it was 32/38 (I think).
*handling: This car hugs the road like no other. I test drove a scion tc, and that just didn't compare, in my opinion. The civic just feels like it's riding on rails when you're driving it - hard to explain.
*reliability: Have had absolutely 0 problems in the 1.5 years I've owned it.
*interior quality/ergonomics: the mileage and other indicators are situated in an unorthodox, but very "makes sense" location. You never have to take your eye off the road to see how fast you're going as peripheral vision is easily able to pick up speed, fuel, engine temp.
Cons *Performance: Could be a little faster. Has trouble getting up hills unless you really hammer down on the gas and up the RMP's, but then again mpg would suffer in effect.
*Interior comfort: There is excessive road and engine noise when at speeds of 50/55 or greater. This could be a defect with my specific build, but I've read similar complaints about interior cabin noise at other sources for the 06 Honda Civic. For taller drivers (I'm 6'1), the interior is also a bit cramped.
All in all, great car. With the Civic, you also get Honda's proven value and reliability in their manufacturing. This car will hold its value. After 5 years of ownership (when the 60 mo loans are expected to be paid off and many will be shopping for a replacement), this care is expected to still be worth $10,000 for a trade-in. That's incredible considering I traded in my 98 saturn sc2 after 8 years ownership for a measley $1,500."

"I commute nearly 120-miles round trip Mon - Fri. Having owned 2-VW Jettas, 1-Volvo 850 and S70 (all purchased new), I can honestly say this Civic, thus far, has been the best vehicle I've ever owned. I have the EX Coupe (automatic), and funny thing is, it really does get 40MPG on the highway. On a recent trip to Atlanta (about 450 miles north), I calculated the MPG at 41.07. No other modern-day, only-gas-powered vehicle can do that, even on premium fuel. The car feels like a "point-and-shoot" vehicle. It holds the road incredibly well, is reasonably quiet (Volvos are quieter, but not worth an additional $12K). It's hard to explain, but the car feels like an extension of the person driving it. I don't get into over-hyping anything (especially vehicles), but this Civic is truly the best all-around vehicle I've ever owned."

"I have owned my 2007 Civic Hybrid for about ten months now and, after 5 other Hondas, I have to say that this is the best one yet... and that is saying ALOT because all of them have been excellent cars. I usually get about 44 MPG combined highway and city and go about 500 miles between fill-ups. Its MPG gauges "teach" you how to drive in an economical manner. Has plenty of power but you will pay in terms of gas mileage. Build quality is superb and has all the feaures you need and none that you don't. Very well thought out, reliable commuter and all-around car!"

"All in all I have to say that this was definitely a great choice for a new car, especially because of the gas mileage. The majority of my driving is in the city and stop & go traffic, but I am still getting between 30-35 mpg. When I actually do travel on the highway for long periods of time a tank (11-12 gallons?) will get me past 400 miles before the low fuel light even comes on. This car also stands up well in minor fender bender accidents and parallel parking dents from city driving. The EX model does have some really nice features such as the aux audio jack for iPods and satellite radio. Two things that take getting used to in this car: #1 its hard to judge where the front of the car is since you can't see it while you are driving so parking at times will take some practice. #2 In over 2 years I have yet to find a comfortable position for my left elbow to rest on the door while stearing the wheel. It may be because I am short but after a few hours in the car it can get annoying. Trunk and back seat are also very roomy -- good for road trips with friends and yet still a practical size to own in the city."

"I was originally going to get the EX.. boy am I glad I didn't!! This car is SO much more worth it for the money than the EX would have been. Better interior, better stereo system, better everything!! Hondas may be pricey, but they sure do hold their value!!"

"Nice car, I have it for a year, it is the Si version. No problems, everything is great. the only thing is that if you want to use the Vtec, I mean put RPMs up to 6k if feels great, car is fast, but remember that gas is burning twice as regular, so gas mileage depends on how u press the accelerator. full tank is about 310-330 miles driving regular. using the Vtec so often is about 270-290. lol"

"The car I had before this was my dad's old 1999 VW Jetta, which had so many problems it was hard to count them using two hands. Recently, it had begun to break down, first slowly then the engine began to deteriorate into something resembling one dragged along the floor for 140000 miles. Therefore I knew that I would need a new car. Being only 17, this car would be the first I ever personally owned, so I did extensive research. I test drove the Altima Coupe and the Accord Coupe, but found that this car is a great value for the money. I managed to negotiate the 22,460 EX-L with navigation down to 21,250, which was also great, especially compared to the 28 and 29 thousand dollar Accord and Altima respectively. I can only say that I love it. The two-tier dashboard is amazingly convenient and futuristic and the navigation, even though somewhat convoluted, does the job well and has an amazing voice-recognition interface. The trunk space is generous given the fact that it is a coupe and the back seats, in which I have sat on several occasions, are large enough to fit adults (I, myself, am 5'11''). The car, as I would call it, is peppy or zippy, etc. It's acceleration is quite decent given its engine size, but don't expect to catch up to a Bugatti Veyron any time soon. I have not yet been able to use the heated front seats, as it is the summer, but I look forward to another great success by Honda. Of course the reason that most people would buy this car is another plus, for mondo MPGs! After breaking it in I expect to get even better than the average 37.5 combined I get currently even with the air conditioning on. Very recently, I took the car with some friends and some luggage on a small trip to Pennsylvania and back, and even with the car being three-quarters full of luggage, it got a solid 41 mpg on the highway. The gas gauge can be deceiving because it if filled over the top mark it would make it seem as if you are getting 65 mpg, which is unreasonable. The only little problem I have with the car is the lack of the power seats. My mom had recently bought the new Honda Accord Coupe and it has power seats, which I appreciate greatly. It does not bother me a whole lot, but it would make life easier. Anyone who buys this car will fall in love with it. I do, however, recommend the highest trim if you can afford it, with navigation. Go Civic!"

"I bought the 2008 Civic EX with Nav. used last year with only 980 miles for $20K, drove it for 15,000 miles with no problems what so ever and an avarage mpg of more than 35, sold it this weekend for $19K, the only reason was i have a bmw and would have lost more than $10K, Honda's hold thier value and deserve all the positive reviews."

"An excellent car overall. Most people looking to buy this car are looking for a performer. It can certainly pass other cars, but if you're looking for muscle car performance, this isn't it. I've tracked fuel consumption from the day I bought it - mixed driving has yielded 26 mpg over the course of 2 years. Only minor complaints are with the paint and door kick panel plastics. Clearcoat is a bit soft (frequent washing will cause hazing) and the overall paint thickness isn't good enough to survive small road debris strikes. Be sure to buy touch up paint. Door plastic scuffs easily even with soft impacts. I think this is a common complaint. That being said, I plan on keeping this car for quite a while."

"Bought new but drive alot of miles in a year (highway) Bought specifically for gas mileage (rated @ 40 mpg) but have never made over 30- which is ok. Cute body style but small car so tires toe out creating fast tire wear. Have family car so no one rides in this car but cloth seams have seperated. Front bumper disattached (was told I must have hit something but there is no scratch-anywhere on car) Transmission has locked up a couple of times (have screwdriver in car and can dislocated by taking off shift cover); replaced brakes much more often than any other car owned (remember highway miles); finally electrical wiring has some problems (radio, lights and windsheild wipers don't always work but by turning car off/on a couple of times connection has so far been made. Overall OK car- would rate higher if consumer reports didn't rate so high which in turn raised my expectations of a more reliable and solid car. (owned/driven alot of cars- this car no better no worse but definetly overated)"

"This car handles like a dream and the K20 engine is truly amazing. The tone of the exhaust when VTEC engages is music to my ears. The interrior design is great and Honda makes good use of just about every inch of space. The trunk has plenty of room and is surprisingly large. Also has fold down seats for extra cargo space. It's a Honda so you can expect quality performance and longevity. I'm averaging about 26-30 MPG in the city, 24-25 MPG if driven "spiritedly"."

"This has been the best car I have ever owned. I have only two complaints: There is no lumbar adjustment, and the daytime running lights make it easy to forget to use headlights, since there are no automatic headlights. Also, it would be great if the headlights/interior lights automatically turned off ten minutes after parking the car if you leave them on. However, I am being very critical... this car is outstanding!"

"I have a 2006 Civic, and I have had nothing but problems since it was purchased. The major problems have been electrical. Whether it be the fan motor that has been replaced twice to fuses and the battery just recently going dead. It is a pretty car, and when it runs well, it is great. But the cons have far outweighed the pros."
