"I bought this car brand new in 2006, the year they changed the body style to widen and extend it. the back seat can be ajusted, there are extra storage compartments in the way back. we have taken several trips in this car and are always comfortable. I would definitely recommend this car to anyone who asks me. I get around 28,29, sometimes almost 30 mpg highway and 23-25 city, all depending upon if i am running the AC and at what speed I am doing."

"07 Rav4 4 cyl. Bought new in Dec. 06, 2,000 miles and a month later transmission went bad, replaced under warranty for a rebuilt tranny. Came back to the dealer a month after for shifting problems. Dealer said battery was loose and it needed reprograming. Once in a while it has a shifting problem. Thinking in trading it in."

"I am into mtn. biking and rock climbing so I needed a vehicle that could fit alot of gear and 4 people for road trips. I love the storage compartment in the back. It does better than a car for off-road and performs well in the snow, though the stock toyo street tires need to be replaced with some light truck m/s tires. Mileage is good for an SUV, I get about 24mpg on average. The 4-cylinder is a little underpowered; at least at high elevation. Beware, the long slanted hood is a magnet for rock chips. Overall, it is a great compromise for someone who wants the good gas milage and comfortable driving usually associated with a car, combined with all of the room and better off-road/snow driving characteristics of an SUV. I test drove many other cross-over SUVs and only the CRV came close. I liked the RAV4 styling better, otherwise either would have been a good choice."

"This is the first vehicle in a long time I am completely satisfied with. So much so we bought a second one for our college bound, adventurer, nature loving child. It's good on gas, safe, very reliable, handles well under all conditions and is very roomy inside. True, if you want to do some serious off-roading, this is not what your looking for, but for normal driving and in all weather conditions this is a great SUV. Everything is well laid out. There isn't anything about it I don't like. In fact the entire family likes it. The first one is now 2 years old and we have not had any problems or additional costs. I pull a small 4X8 trailer with it occasionally with no problem. If you are looking for a small SUV you won't be sorry with this one."

"My ONLY complaint is road noise on the highway. But that seems to be typical for the lower end Toyota's. Same complaint I had with my Matrix. The RAV gets around great in 'normal' snow conditions. It's not something I would take offroading but it's great for getting to the ski hill. Surprising amount of room. With the split back seat and roof rack my two kids and I can fit all of our camping equipment or ski equipment just fine. The kids enjoy the reclining rear seats and that the windows roll all the way down. The RAV is holding it's value VERY well. More than I can say for my Suburban! I highly recommend this vehicle."

"Good for cargo & reliability. Can fit a bike in it. three problems--1. cargo door opens out so when it rains, it rains on person and stuff being put into the back, not to mention it swings out in the garage (should have had a cargo door which lifts) 2--only the driver side door has lock openable by the manual key. If you don't have the expensive key with the chip for remote unlocking, you may not be able to unlock the car if the driver door lock is frozen. 3. Car sometimes stalls slightly on acceleration. Nice dimming lights when entering car."

"Well I bought this when I lived in Fairbanks, Alaska. I needed a car that was reliable, 4wd, somewhat powerful, and had enough room to fit a drumset in. This car fullfilled all of these aspects. They aren't cheap up there in Alaska, but it was worth it. If you're not familiar with weather that hits 40 degrees below zero, just know that you have to plug in your car at anything below +20 degrees or it probably won't start (it heats the engine oil and battery). My Rav4 blew my mind when I started it in 25 degrees below zero after it sat unplugged overnight. I've had no issues and I'm pretty sure you can't kill this little SUV no matter what. It's my first Toyota and I think I'm gonna stick with them."

"I bought the 2008 Rav 4 as a compromise because the new Highlander was too big. We go on many long trips and the seats are very uncomfortable. I love everything about the car but hesitate to recommend the car due to the seats."

"I have an '06 2wd automatic w/ 60000 on it. The car was a good price for a Toyota SUV and gets great mileage (I average around 28 - 34 hwy) I've had the vehicle for about 2 yrs. and I'm still not attached like I was to the '99 Altima I had for five years, but I hadn't had any problems until recently... After hitting a puddle, I heard a thumping sound and took it into the dealership to discover that some hoses related to the emissions system had been torn away from the undercarriage. I had all of that taken care of (costing around $400) and three days later my check engine, VSC, and stability control lights came on - took it in and found out that the charcoal canister needs to be replaced ($800)! I've done some research online and found out that this is A COMMON PROBLEM! Needless to say I'm not a happy camper. This is my first Toyota and I'm not impressed - thinking of going back to a Nissan as I had no problems with my Altima and it had nearly 100k on it!"

"We own the 2006 (Navy Blue) Rav 4 Limited Edition with Leather seat Package (sweet). My hubby works for Toyota and gets great discounts on Toyotas. Even so I would have baught this car without the discount. Our Rav 4 Rocks! We take it camping and off roading and it's cozy enough inside to sleep in. It's so responsive, comfortably seats us and our twins and has enough room in back for groceries for a family of four. My only regret is that we need to get a bigger vehicle soon because our third child is on the way. But for performance, value, handling, gas mileage, comfort and styling...you can't go wrong. it gets a 5 star rating for a family of four or less. Thumbs up Toyota!"

"Two years ago my husband and I went into the Toyota dealership closest to our home with a list of our wants and needs for a vehicle. We were ready to decide between a 4 Runner or Highlander when the salesperson, knowing our needs and price range, suggested that we look at a RAV 4 Limited. I was prepared to say that the RAV 4 was too small for our family, but I was wrong! It was spacious (we did not need third row seating) and I was impressed with the cargo space (having the spare mounted on the outside of the vehicle gives more room in the rear.) When I got in the driver's seat, I thought, "This fits me so well!" I'm fairly short (5'2) and the power seating put me at a comfortable position and then easily adjusted to my husband's larger frame. My two kids, a teenager and five year old, have ample room in the rear seat. Road trips are comfortable in this vehicle. I highly recommend the Limited RAV 4 if you're looking for a little more luxury and space for your family without paying an arm and a leg."

"I love my RAV4. It's been a great car. It's a smooth and quiet ride with plenty of room for a small family and a couple of dogs. My only complaint would be that the "4 wheel drive" is kind of a crock and if you ask me false advertising. While you can run in 4 wheel it only allows 4 wheel running (at least in the 4 cyl. model) up to 25mph or there abouts. So it's more like a quasi-four-wheel-drive vehicle. It does handle well in the snow and it gets pretty good gas mileage. Overall I can't complain about the car. It's been a good purchase and I would definitely recommend it to a friend."

"Great vehicle. Has a good feel driving it around town and on the highway. Comfortable and quiet ride is a plus. The Rav4 is responsive, even the smaller engine model which I have. It also has great breaking, very strong with good feel in the pedal. The sound system is excellent, with multi-disc player. Overall just a great vehicle, and true to the Toyota name for reliability and price!"

"The V-6 is unnecessary, I think, unless you plan to do towing. Almost too responsive, and cuts mileage. Overall a very good vehicle for the money.
The driver's seat could be more comfortable -- not enough leg support, so my "driving" leg gets a little tired on long trips. Small nitpick -- a really good car."

"I have had the 2006 rav 4 for just a short time....seems like a good vehicle....v6 is not as fuel efficient as advertised. Lots of power. Major complaint is very noisy inside...seats, panels, dash have shaking noises. Already had a steering shaft problem. Replaced under warranty. I have a 03 solara with 100,000 miles on it...hoping to have same reliabilty from this. Good looking car. Will see if it meests toyotas high standards."

"I have owned VW's my whole life. Decided I wanted a change. I bought the RAV4 after looking at more VW's & the CRV. What a nice surprise. It handles very well, it's comfortable and I actually get better than advertised mileage. I bought the 4 cylinder and it has plenty of oomph except the occasional high altitude mountain, but it doesn't bog down too much. Also very spacious. 5 adults and their luggage fit easily inside, plus if you need it, there's a roof rack.I highly recommend it."

"The RAV4 (I have Sport trim, 4WD) drives very well, more like a car than a truck, which is how most SUV's drive. It has a very smooth ride. Pickup is excellent at stop lights. Rear is roomy. I've had it 2 years and put a lot of miles on it. I had to replace the battery recently - don't know why, nor could dealership tell me. Toyota cut some corners on interior things, like storage bin in front dash -- when accelerating, things fall out. Push button for 2nd glove box in dash works inconsistently and feels cheap -- sometimes you have to open it manually. Lever in trunk area to fold down rear seats not too good, and I had to have it fixed. Stereo is very poor quality. Auxiliary input poorly placed inside center armrest - you have to close the lid on the wire to use armrest when playing iPod or satellite radio (which is not an option with the stereo on this model).
I know people love Toyotas and Consumer Reports always gives them glowing reviews. I'm not too crazy about mine and am considering trading it in for something else with better gas mileage."
